Infrared Sauna

  • Infrared saunas are an easy and relaxing way to enhance your health. They’ve been used for thousands of years in many cultures to support health, detoxification and address illness. Saunas are especially helpful in reducing toxic load from our environment, including heavy metals and accumulated chemicals that are stored in tissues.

    Our infrared saunas use both near (carbon) and far (ceramic) infrared wavelengths to warm the body directly (rather than heat the air around you). This produces a healing heat that penetrates tissues with optimal heat at a deep cellular level for a relaxing, therapeutic sweat.

  • With more use you'll notice a deep, purifying sweat and an invigorating feeling afterward. There is no one answer for the amount of sessions per week, but infrared saunas are safe to use every day and benefits are cumulative. In fact, you will see wellness improvements sooner if you use it daily. People report improved sleep, recovery, HRV, blood pressure, vascular health, skin health reduced toxic load, and more.

  • Don't drink alcohol before, during, or after sauna use.

    Don't use recreational drugs before, during, or after sauna use.

    Don't eat a large meal prior to using a sauna. Keep it light!

  • Drink plenty of water before, during, and after your sauna session to replenish fluids lost through perspiration.

    We offer a fresh towel to wear in the sauna or cover the bench so you can stretch out. You are also welcome to wear a bathing suit, undergarments, or nothing! We recommend minimal coverage for optimal sweat and detoxification.

    Limit food intake one hour before your infrared session. This allows the body to detox more effectively because it will not be using that energy for digestion.

    Oil and lotion decrease perspiration by blocking pores. Therefore, it is best to enter a sauna with dry, clean skin.

    Toweling off during your session will keep the pores open for the body to perspire more.

    To relieve sore and tight muscles, massage these areas for faster recovery.

  • We do not recommend using the sauna while pregnant. As with many things in pregnancy, research is lacking.

  • We have on-site Showers complete with clean Ursa Major products for a quick rinse-off following your 30 or 50 minute session.

    While you get to enjoy the entire sauna to yourself during any session, our saunas are large enough for you and up to 3 friends (4 people total)

    Each sauna is Bluetooth equipped for your own personal DJ / sound bath moment.

    We provide complimentary Ursa Major body wipes and cool towels for you to use before / after your sauna.

  • Want to extend your stay and get a full IV bag following your session? Want to schedule a spray tan after you towel off? We have everything you need within steps of the sauna for you to get fully up to speed on your wellness game.

  • Coming from a doctor’s appointment at the hospital? On your way back from class? We’re right off of Main Street in Charlottesville and welcome walk-ins. With ample amounts of parking and convenience, it’s no wonder we are the go-to wellness service in town.
